our mission

The FIT Closet and Clothing Exchange is the Manhattan-Ogden School District’s means of providing many of the necessary essentials (e.g., school supplies, clothing, shoes, coats, hygiene products, laundry detergent) so all USD 383 students (pre-K to seniors in high school) can attend class and integrate successfully.

Who we serve

The FIT Closet primarily serves homeless students and their families, but has also opened its doors to assist other students and families in need. We serve families struggling with daily living expenses, migrant students and their families, students in foster care, and children with a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA).

Community Supported

The College Avenue Methodist Church donates the building where the FIT Closet is located. The facility is managed by one part-time, paid coordinator along with an amazing team of volunteers. Hundreds of individuals, churches, and businesses in the Manhattan area donate all of the clothing and other essential supplies (note: aside from the coordinator’s stipend, we are 100% community donation funded).
